and it's delicious and I learned this at Cook St. Helena near Sonoma, California, during a dreamy sister birthday weekend. On top of this braised beef and fresh pasta were delicious fried sage leaves which reminded me of one extraordinary egg-hash breakfast cooked by (one of two Daily Snack readers) Gabe Greenberg. Both experiences reminded me that fried sage leaves on top of things is a very good idea.
Other delicious California sites visited include: Cline Cellars, in which a lovely retired volunteer named Don gave us 10 wine tastings instead of the maximum of 5, and commented at one point: "This Pinot satisfies almost all the sensory taste buds. Except for that new one, Ooh-Mami"
Also the headquarters of my favorite beer of all time, Lagunitas, and the extraordinary The Marshall Store in Point Reyes, where we split 26 oysters between two of us.
Here's a shot snapped by my sister Kathy of a lovely man eating the same lovely braised beef pasta dish and he looks like he might do this daily and it seems he has a very lovely life.
OH and PS: I'm going to congratulate myself and fellow blogger Smas. Why? Because while this blog has been sporadic at best for seven years now, we have NEVER posted 'food porn' photos of all the amazing food we cook in our homes, and given the over saturation of waxing poetically to carefully poised shots of stuff on plates in people's homes that I find ever so boring, I think this is a cool achievement. Cheers to us.
